Job Description:

We are seeking a Business Intelligence Intern to work within the Business Intelligence department alongside Business Intelligence, Data Science, and IT staff. The goal of the Business Intelligence team is to turn data into critical information and knowledge to be used towards sound organizational decisions. The Business Intelligence Intern will support enterprise-wide business intelligence and analytics projects. The role will strive to provide automated reporting through using a combination of skills relating to accessing data warehouses and, through the use of Python, programmatically replicate existing reporting computations and formatting.

Any initial supplementary training deemed necessary will be guided and provided by the company. The applicant must be a self-starter with the drive to adapt by learning a number of application solutions; able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Seeking applicants who are at least a high school sophomore. Classwork and/or experience in using SQL, Python, and/or R.

The anticipated timeframe for this internship is through the summer months.

Experience and Skills:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Collaborate with Data Scientists to accomplish Business Intelligence projects as prioritized by the Manager.
  • For beginner Business Intelligence Interns, the primary projects would be to automate existing manual reports. Ideally, existing Excel-based reports would be developed in Tableau.
  • To the extent project work allows and experience gains are accrued, Data Scientist Interns would have the ability to work on projects that are more creative and exploratory in nature.

Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities. While working for and representing TS Banking Group, Business Intelligence Interns will follow Council Bluffs Community Schools' Code of Conduct (if applicable) and the TS Banking Group Employee Handbook.

Supervisory Expectations. The Business Intelligence Intern's performance will be monitored, communicated, and reported on a routine basis. Intern performance and progress will be measured according to TS Banking Group expectations and those of Council Bluffs Community Schools' Employability Rubric (if applicable). Performance and progress will be evaluated and communicated no less than bi-weekly.

Education and/or Experience. Seeking at least a high school sophomore status. Classwork and/or experience in using SQL, Python, and/or R.

Language Skills. Ability to read and interpret technical material such as executable script and programming informational material. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with a team environment.

Mathematical Skills. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using integers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply use and create computational models.

Reasoning Ability. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed and involved written or oral instructions.

Other Skills and Abilities. Must have the ability to operate PC and printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.

Key Contacts - Internal and External. Has frequent contact with the Business Intelligence, Analytics, and IT teams.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations. To effectively perform the job, must have reliable transportation to travel to and from work and other work-related events, meetings, etc.
